Dave Humphries - CEO

Director

Dave grew up in the tight-knit town of Kadina on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula, surrounded by his parents and four siblings. His talent for basketball took him across the globe: first to the USA on a college scholarship, where he completed a Sociology degree, and then to the UK, where he played professionally and volunteered in homelessness shelters and youth programs.

Returning to Australia, Dave followed his heart to Kalgoorlie, WA, where he worked closely with Indigenous families, schools, and communities. All while continuing his love of sport and representing WA in state-level basketball.

Now living in South Australia, Dave is a proud husband to Jess and father to Arlo and Summer, as well as dog dad to Lacie and Sev. Outside of work, you’ll find him spending time with his family, out on the golf course, or relaxing with a good crime series.

With a career spanning residential care, Indigenous support, youth mentoring, and NDIS Support Coordination, Dave brings more than experience to Your Choice Matters, he brings heart, purpose, and a genuine belief in the power of human connection. He leads by example, shows up for others, and never loses sight of why this work matters!

Say hello to the YCM Gold Coast team!

Brooke

Operations Manager

Brooke is the friendly face of YCM’s Gold Coast office, bringing a unique blend of compassion, creativity, and operational expertise to her role as Operations Manager. With a professional background that spans from founding and growing her own businesses, to leading operations for multiple teams, to providing specialised therapeutic foster care, Brooke knows how to balance structure with heart!

Her time as a specialised foster carer strengthened her skills in empathy, patience, and positive reinforcement – qualities that naturally flow into her work at YCM. She has also managed operations across health, corporate, and community-focused organisations, always ensuring that people feel supported, valued,
and empowered.

Outside of the office, Brooke’s life is just as vibrant. She shares her home with Koda, her big goofy mastiff-cross, and Klaus, her adorable ragdoll kitten with plenty of fluff and attitude. She loves music, meditation, playing tennis, and beach walks that recharge her energy. When she’s feeling creative, she pours her imagination into making scrapbooks, combining her love of detail and storytelling.

At YCM, Brooke’s mission is to ensure the Gold Coast team and participants experience the same warmth, fun, and sense of community that she creates in her own life. She believes support work should feel personal, uplifting, and empowering – and she’s here to make that happen!

Our YCM Gold Coast Mentors!

Her career has spanned roles in Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) leadership, where she built strong relationships with families and led teams with empathy, through to one on one support roles that nurture independence and wellbeing.

Her personal journey caring for her son with ASD has further shaped her deep empathy and strengthened her commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. She is known for her warm, approachable nature and her ability to create safe, supportive environments where clients feel valued and empowered.

Bec holds a Diploma of OSHC (TAFE SA, 2009), a qualification that strengthened her skills in child development, behaviour support, and creating inclusive environments.

Dan

Mentor

Dan is a proud family man and dad to a beautiful three-year-old daughter, who keeps him smiling and active every day. A big sports enthusiast, he plays basketball in five teams each week and is a loyal LA Lakers fan through and through.

With 19 years of customer service experience, Dan has worn many hats, from leadership roles, to working at the Casino, to running his own barbershop. The barbershop in particular gave him a unique way to connect with people, share stories, and build lasting relationships.

Along the way, he has also achieved a Certificate III in Barbering and a Certificate III in Hospitality, both of which bring extra dimensions to his work as a support worker. His barbering experience sharpened his ability to listen, make people feel at ease, and create genuine connections, while his hospitality background built strong teamwork, problem-solving, and service skills that transfer seamlessly into supporting clients.

Dan has also lived overseas, which deepened his appreciation for different cultures and people from all walks of life. Known for his positivity and encouragement, he is passionate about empowering others to achieve their goals, while making sure there’s plenty of fun along the way.

With a background in customer service across airlines and retail, she has a natural gift for connecting with people, building trust, and making every interaction feel warm and genuine. She loves to have a good chat and believes everyone has a story worth telling.

Dedicated to helping people maintain independence and dignity, Hannah brings patience, empathy, and plenty of energy to every role.

Outside of work, Hannah is obsessed with animals, loves a good adventure, and proudly cheers on her boys in AFL and baseball. Kyara

Mentor

Kyara is 23 years old, loves helping anyone and everyone, plays competitive squash, and embraces every opportunity to learn and grow. Always eager for new experiences, whether outdoors, indoors, or through meeting new people, she carries an open heart and a genuine curiosity wherever she goes.

Passionate about fitness and self-improvement, Kyara loves pushing both her mind and body to new limits. Her background in hospitality has helped her develop strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a deep understanding of people’s individual differences. She’s known for being that listening ear, always ready to offer support, encouragement, and a kind word to anyone who needs it. Empathy, kindness, and positivity are at the core of who she is.

Growing up as the only girl among nine brothers (right in the middle!) shaped her into a natural nurturer, strong, compassionate, and fiercely loyal. She brings that same energy into every environment she’s part of, uplifting others and creating connection through care.

Outside of her squash commitments and her goal of one day representing Papua New Guinea, she loves exploring the creative and relaxing sides of life. She’s passionate about art, museums, and fashion, and often spends her downtime walking along the beach or discovering new waterfalls. She’s also a big fan of reggae music and enjoys winding down with a good romance novel. Above all, she values quality time with her family, partner, and friends, especially when it involves sunshine, laughter, and the beach.

Jessica

Mentor

Jessica is originally from Italy and now calls Australia home, where she lives with her husband. She brings valuable experience from her role as a Rostering Officer in aged care, where she worked for six months. In that role, Jessica not only managed schedules but also built strong connections with clients, families, and staff, ensuring everyone felt supported, heard, and respected. This experience strengthened her ability to communicate clearly, problem-solve under pressure, and connect with people in a calm and enjoyable way.

Currently, Jessica is studying her Certificate III in Individual Support, further building on her skills and knowledge to provide the best possible care. She is passionate about learning and sees this study as a way to deepen her ability to deliver hands-on, compassionate support to individuals and families.

Family-centred by nature, Jessica is warm, caring, and loves keeping things clean and organised. She is fluent in Italian (her mother tongue), English, and Spanish, which allows her to connect effortlessly with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys gardening, cooking, caring for animals, and entertaining others with her storytelling. She is committed to providing practical and compassionate support built on respect, trust, and active listening.

Nia

Mentor

Nia grew up in Wales and qualified as a registered nurse in 1997 before moving to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she gained experience across medical, rehabilitation, and orthopaedics.

Seventeen years ago, she and her family planned just “a year out” in Australia, but loved it so much they never left! Now proudly based on the Southern Gold Coast, Nia is a devoted mum to three children and dog mum to Mabli, her energetic kelpie-border collie. She’s also a proud dog granny to Rusty the cavoodle.

Holding a Bachelor of Nursing (Hons), registration with AHPRA, and a certificate III in Incontinence Management, Nia brings both professional expertise and a compassionate, practical approach to her support work. With 17 years in general practice, she is known for valuing patients as family, not numbers, and for building trusted, long-term relationships.

Warm, genuine, and experienced, Nia is passionate about heling people feed comfortable, respected, and cared for. Nia is always combining her clinical knowledge with her caring nature to provide meaningful support.

Natalie

Mentor

Natalie is a warm and genuine person with a big heart and a natural ability to connect with others. Originally from beautiful Russell Island in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, she’s now proud to call the Gold Coast home, where she’s raising her two young children.

Her life journey has taken her all over, from working in lively London bars and restaurants to settling in Australia and finding her passion for supporting young people and families. Natalie is currently studying a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, building on her lifelong interest in helping others thrive.

Growing up alongside her brother, who was diagnosed with autism at a young age, gave Natalie firsthand insight into the challenges and rewards that come with supporting someone with additional needs. That experience shaped her patient, compassionate approach and taught her the importance of understanding, flexibility, and genuine care.

Outside of work and study, Natalie loves spending time with her family, exploring the outdoors, creating art, and learning about different cultures. She’s known for being a great listener, a calm problem-solver, and someone who always brings positive energy to those around her.

Natalie looks forward to making a difference in people’s lives, helping them grow, build confidence, and become the best versions of themselves.
